Hoyong Lee

Hoyong Lee is a Seoul-based electroacoustic composer and experimental soundscape composer. He was an Award of Distinction Winner in the Matera Intermedia Festival (MA/IN Festival 2016, Italy) and officially selected composer of Musiques & Recherches (Belgium, 2017). His pieces have been presented in such international conferences as ICMC and SMC, and in various experimental music festivals in Europe, the USA and Japan. He is especially interested in the increasingly blurry boundaries between word, songs and poetry such as any kinds of languages and art forms, including voice expression of oral storytelling. He received a Master of Music degree majoring in computer music composition from the Graduate School of Hanyang University. Lee’s experimental sonic practice has explored various ways of storytelling techniques on media platforms with human voice and electroacoustic sounds. He was first-place winner in XRAY.FM Radio (Portland, USA) Storytelling Contest Prize (2017) as an experimental sound storyteller.
