Verena Hentschel
Residence: Köln, Germany
Verena Hentschel is a German composer and visual artist. A focal point in her electronic compositions is the engagement with repetition in music and sound. The basis for her compositions is field recordings; her focus lies in the experience of sound and visuals and range between rhythmic-percussive and experimental elements. She works with multi-speaker setups and often combines her abstract paintings with her compositions. She creates computer-assisted animations from her paintings and projects them on large-sized canvas or presents them as stereo videos and mixes the music for several speakers. She completed her master’s studies in Integrative Composition / Electronic Composition at ICEM / Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen 2021 and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from the IMM / Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. Prior to her musical activities, she worked several years as a painter.
