Matthew Conroy is an associate teaching professor of mathematics at the University of Washington, Seattle. He has been working in sound since the 1980s. He leads the research project Number Theory and Noise, which investigates the sonification of integer sequences, in the Washington Experimental Mathematics Lab. He is interested in naive signal processing, code minimalism and the digital application of tape techniques. He uses scratch-built code, Csound, field recordings and a little hand-built circuitry.
