Dugal McKinnon

Residence: Lower Hutt, New Zealand

Dugal McKinnon is a composer, sound artist and writer on contemporary music. He was recently an Artist-in-Residence at the Centre for Art and Media Technology (ZKM) in Karlsruhe (Germany), and his work with London Fieldworks (UK) was awarded an Honourable Mention in the 2010 Prix Ars Electronica. With Sophie Jerram, he co-directs Now Future, an organization working at the intersection of art and ecology. He holds a PhD in Composition from the University of Birmingham (UK), where he studied with Jonty Harrison and performed with BEAST. He teaches sonic art and composition at the New Zealand School of Music (Wellington, NZ) where he is the director of the Lilburn Electroacoustic Music Studios.
