Residence: UK
Sebastiane Hegarty is an artist and lecturer. His work is primarily time-based and includes, installation, sound, photography, performance, drawing and text. In June 2003 he completed the first practice-led PhD (Sculpture) at Winchester School of Art/University of Southampton. Building on the foundations of this research (The Presence of Absence), his recent practice explores time, place and remembering, in particular the loss inherent in the act of record. His sound work includes field recordings and manipulated sound compositions. In 2004, in collaboration with Dr Matt Cuttle (School of Biomedical Sciences /University of Southampton) and Hampshire Dance, he composed a ‘soundscape for movement’ for the Wellcome Trust funded dance project; Innervations. Recent work has been featured on Drift: Resonant Cities (New Media Scotland), and Radio Taxi (Taxi Gallery: Cambridge)
