Aki Pasoulas

Aki Pasoulas teaches at the Universities of Middlesex, City, and the Arts London, and is pursuing his doctoral research at City University under the supervision of Denis Smalley. His research, funded by the AHRC, focuses on the listener’s experience and interpretation of time passing, and the interrelationships among timescales in electroacoustic composition. Further research interests include microsound, spatialisation, sound poetry and the use of voice in non-western musics. He has written for various combinations of instruments, found objects, voice, recorded and electronic sound. He has taken part in many concerts, has composed music for the theatre and for short experimental films, and has also organised and performed with various ensembles. Aki is an spnm shortlisted composer and his latest piece Arborescences has received a special mention in the Métamorphoses 2008 acousmatic composition competition.
