Jack Hooker

Residence: Wellington, New Zealand

Jack Hooker is a Wellington-based composer/performer of electroacoustic and instrumental music. He is interested in creating sound worlds which, utilizing physical and recognizable sound sources, present abstracted versions of reality. Jack is heavily influenced by contemporary noise and drone music, and as such is interested in the physical dimension of intensely loud sound. Outside of the electroacoustic world, he is a member of the contemporary music group SMP Ensemble, two Gamelan ensembles, a number of local drone acts and performs regularly as a solo acoustic guitarist.
