Surfacing (2003)13:38
Surfacing was initially inspired by the imagery depicted in Variation on the Word Sleep, a poem by Margaret Atwood that explores levels of the human subconscious. Like the structure of the human subconscious, Surfacing is constructed of different layers and levels of sound, sometimes surfacing, sometimes oppressed. It is essentially a journey where at any given moment there are two or more layers present, juxtaposed against, or interweaving with each other, unveiling or restricting each other.
