Fraser River Bridge Frank Koustrup

Fraser River Bridge is a verbatim, binaural recording of a freight train as it crosses the railroad bridge that crosses the Fraser River at New Westminster, British Columbia. On the New Westminster side of the bridge is a steep cliff. As a result, the railroad tracks make a sharp 90-degree turn from the bridge to the shore. Trains move slowly through this turn. The scraping of steel wheels against the rails, along with the creaking and heaving sounds of the freight cars, result in a recording that sounds composed. This composition was included on a compact disc compilation from En Red O in Barcelona in 2000.
