Les enfants d’Éole (2001)7:50
A piece exclusively composed of aeolian materials: flutes, wind and breath. The discourse is as fluid as possible, it inflates but never bursts. The onsets and exits of sounds are very gentle. A dialogue made up of aeolian calls and melismae illustrates the fragile power of the wind… the inevitable return to silence… The piece is also a game of subtle transitions between evocative “landscapes” and introspective passages; passing slowly from the object of its contemplation into daydream. “Les enfants d’Éoles” is a music of calm pianissimo.
