Soundtrack for Scrapbook Warren Burt

“Soundtrack for Scrapbook” was made in August-October 2002 in Melbourne. It’s the soundtrack for a video/audio piece “Scrapbook.” The video consists of 15 discrete images per second organized into flickerings and animations. The sound consists of 13 frames per second. Each of the 2795 sounds in the piece lasts 1/13 of a second. I used every sample I ever made that was still on my hard drive in this piece. It was made entirely “by hand,” splicing every fragment in Cool Edit Pro. No automation was used in its production. It took about three months to do this. I regard the soundtrack as an independent piece in which I research the pyschoacoustic properties of rapid and constant timbre change.
