The Turning Point (2000)7:50
The Turning Point, for clarinet and tape, contains expressive melodies as often found in this composer’s works. In addition, the listener may also find some cheerful elements in the music. At the beginning, the clarinet blends with a sound wash on the tape. When the clarinet melody enters, it emerges from the supporting lower sounds on the tape. A quasi-scherzo section acts as an interlude before the clarinet melody returns, this time with the accompanying tape rising well above the live solo instrument.
