This piece is part of a larger body of work exploring a mix of electroacoustics, field recordings and corrupted and truncated files downloaded from the internet. The “live” recordings were made during a road trip across the southern United States, from the east coast to the west coast. Organic (ie field recordings) and synthetic elements (ie the computer generated elements) were combined, such that the work would be evidence, however abstracted, of both actual geography traversed by my feet and a virtual “geography” traversed with my hands. The ultimate intent was to make a work taking the listener on a short and enigmatic trip between these 2 worlds, where the seams between the sound sources would disappear in pursuit of a visceral experience.
