Hopheads with Icepicks David R. Mooney

This piece was extracted from the Ancient Chinese Enclosing Game Compositional Matrix 03. The matrix consists of layers of musical material that may be shifted independently in either direction by a predetermined increment (a division of the total length of the matrix). In this way the structure remains constant while the contents shift. Any number of compositions can be extracted. The sounds in this matrix derive mostly from recordings of a pin dropped onto a metal cookie sheet. This was in response to an electronic music festival in which a majority of the pieces were of the wall of sound variety. I found myself longing for a quiet piece. How quiet? Quiet enough to hear a pin drop.
