The Sleep of Reason, Section 3 Erik Nyström

The Sleep of Reason loans its title from a famous etching by Goya and has a very complex conceptual framework rooted in extramusical models from science, visual arts and literature. The piece is developed entirely from sinewaves and follows global mathematical system. This section was partially developed first since it feeds back data into Section 1. It is characterised by a rich timbral development comprised of lots of small phrases, which build up in a non-linear fashion inspired by chaos theory. Again systems are clashing, this time causing overload and increasing entropy.
