“Show me your papers” is a musical collaboration between guitarist David Lester of Mecca Normal and experimental solo bassist Wendy Atkinson. They are a bass and guitar duo using unconventional means of playing their instruments to create edgy instrumental soundscapes, combining improvisation with structured arrangements. In “Show me your papers” the jittery effect of the ripped paper adds tension to the repeating background rhythm.
