These are neighbourhood soundscape snapshots: short recordings in Montreal streets and parks, separated by the shutter release of a camera. The spaces are divided into fragments, and the photographs seem to interrupt each moment. This piece was created after reflection on our attempts to capture experiences and spaces, and how we try to tell stories about them. Also revealed here are some of the differences between recording with still photographs and with sound. These point to the common conflict between our desire to conserve a moment in its entirety and the reality of only having the ability to capture brief instants.
