Preparation (Wide Mix) (2010) Performed by cryptic scenery: Christian H. Sötemann, guitar, sounds, treatments; Thomas Pertzel, saxophone, sounds2:30
“Preparation” is a composition utilizing notes and sounds that could theoretically occur in the preparation for a performance of the track “Being”:
- testing out the note (here in a brief motif played by guitar and saxophone)
- unfolding the chair on which the performer will be seated during the performance
- the musicians sitting down
- the fingers on the instruments (guitar strings, saxophone keys)
- the musicians tuning their instruments
- the interference of environmental sounds (here, opening and closing the window to maximize or minimize environmental sounds during the performance)
The “wide mix” uses intense delay and reverb effects for the sonic events after the guitar and saxophone motif has decayed.
