Sirenae 1735 (2013)4:45
In 1735 Carl Linnaeus published Systema Naturae, his classificatory system of all the living species, and here he included the siren, with the Latin name of homo marinus. My piece wishes to be a sirens’ chant, investigating the ethological side of beings who desire. Translated, this becomes a desiring of the sound, where the silence plays an important role for the fact that desire cannot be without absence.
