The piece “Relentlessness” deals with the phenomenen of subjective tinnitus and endeavours to alleviate it an an acoustic level. The edited version undergos the same sequence of events as the long version, but features two phases of the composition in shorter duration. The track introduces a tinnitus-like sound as a given situation in the form of two persisting pure sine wave notes (8000 Hz and 1500 Hz). Over time, continuous sonic events are introduced that may contribute to moderating the intensity of the tinnitus tones: a brown noise, a low synthesizer drone, a guitar loop and another sustained synth sound. These may or may not contribute to partly cover or mask the tinnitus sounds. In the final section, the sonic events are abruptly removed to exclusively leave behind the tinnitus sounds that were present throughout. Warning: For some people suffering from tinnitus, these recordings may possibly refocus on one’s own tinnitus. If you are inclined to listen to these pieces, please do so only when assuring that you can utilize means of defocussing and alleviation afterwards.
