Shelf Life 44 Dave Ross

Composition for ongoing audio-visual collaboration with Andy Cox entitled ‘Shelf Life’. Andy produces beautiful tiny sculptural objects from things he finds in the street and has been populating the space in between the secondary glazing in his home workshop with them, on self-constructed and assembled Perspex shelves. I always enjoy looking at these objects so much they seem inherently ‘musical’, so I decided to photograph them, (in-situ, as many are too fragile to move) and set about creating music inspired by the images back home. 44 pieces of music combined with 44 still images have resulted. We are planning to present these materials as 4 screen audio visual gallery instalation in the near future.
