Improvising as time moves, straightforward… Juro Kim Feliz

This is an improvised, fixed rendition of the live electronics component for the work “Time moves, straightforward…” (tenor, violin, percussion, and live electronics; text by the composer). Commissioned by the Art Song Collaborative Project (Toronto) for their opera production “Cries of the Earth,” personifying “Greed” and responding to calls for climate justice materializes within structured yet aleatoric procedures as each musician responds to each other’s choice of musical material. As long as church bells ring and voices sing, the excessive electronic gear and the schemas surrounding its performative will always bear reminders of the planet’s impending doom under consumption culture. Special thanks to the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts (Saratoga, WY) for supporting the creation of this project.
