pandemic studies no. 1 Andrew Bradt

pandemic studies no. 1 is a technical piece without a theme in which the composer decided to revisit meticulous editing and the use of concrete source materials in combination with their interests in synthesis and generative acousmatic music. The foundation of the work was realized through using the DAW as a performance tool to generate three texture-carried passages. The three movements were then embellished through a means of using samplers, a hybrid of additive and FM synthesis, and the intricate arranging of other concrete sound objects. Upon completion of the composition, groups of similar sound objects were used as both controls and sources for a for video synthesis. Additional frames of film photography were provided by Montréal photographer, Clare Chasse.
