Vacillations Inside Alana M. DeVito [Am DeVito]

Vacillations Inside is an electroacoustic audiovisual composition that explores instability during the junctures of transition. A nagging recalling of the past spirals around the present while progression urges forward from the inside. This theme is more than an abstraction of the complete creative piece; it embodies the entire creative process, from conception, development and integration to the A/V composition in its entirety. It is an intentional copacetic dialogue between the aural and visual in the creation and presentation of an electroacoustic composition. The careful consideration of the relationship between the audience and the composer drives the entire process, from the initial extraction of raw material from the Doepfer A-100 analog modular system to the careful sound design and final mix. The visualization is a mix of Processing.js, Jitter and the Hydra visual live coding environment, creating a cyclical regeneration of ideas while dismantling the hierarchy between the two mediums.
