The composition “Somewhere between Techno and Washing Machine” is about repetition in the sounds of washing machines. Washing machines deal with different kinds of repetition: it is somewhere between drone and rhythmic repetition. The piece consists of field recordings that I made from different washing machine and their different stages of the washing programmes. It deals with electroacoustic elements and elements that can be found in Minimal Techno. Both stylistics in music have the power to induce a trance due to their repetitive structure in sound and in composition.
The music belongs to an audiovisual work that is based on Verena Hentschels abstract paintings.
