Usine idéale Mélanie Frisoli

The term “usine idéale” (“Ideal Factory”) is a squeaky oxymoron. The intention behind this work is to recreate the atmosphere of a metallurgical factory and to retrace in time both a “typical day” and a “typical life”. From the calm dawn in the emptiness of the hangar to a dizzying end of the day: a gentle morning, a. lunch, an interrupted afternoon. Then, a. stone falls into the gear and from it emerges a murderous start to the evening, a. factory work line on an artificial respirator and workers in agony. On a macroscopic scale, one can imagine that the play begins with the glorious hours of the steel industry and ends with the announcement of its death. The human presence is ghostly, and it is only the reflection of a cynical capitalism that has only sought to crush the women and men who stand in its way.
