An Imaginary Journey [Binaural Experiment] Samuel Villagomez [Villagomez]

Cinema for ears, mixed in binaural, design to be listened to with headphones. During a student exchange at the University of Huddersfield, the composer had the task to compose an original piece to captivate the listener for ten minutes. Just before the pandemic, he created a piece inspired by his experience in Peru in January 2020 and his emergency return back to Canada the following March. An Imaginary Journey takes the listener through sounds of the sea in Paracas, fireworks in Lima’s mountains, transits through the London Underground, train rides through the United Kingdom and finally the return flights to Montréal. The work reflects the uncertainty and stress caused to the composer and to society by the beginning of the pandemic.
