Wind is a meteorological phenomenon that plays several important roles in ecosystems. The one that interests me in particular is the phenomenon of anemochory, which is the dispersion of diaspores. It is the main mode of dispersion of about 90% of plant species. The wind disperses life. With this observation came to me the idea of designing generative and/or interactive sound environments whose spatialization and other parameters (playback speed, cut-off frequency, granulation length) would be controlled by wind data. Designed with the SuperCollider programming environment, the Anemochories can be deployed and adapted to different situations, places, devices, temporalities and broadcasting formats (installation, concert, performance, fixed support). The present version, entitled Anemochories: Insects and Birds, suggests a hybrid environment where the boundaries between the natural and the artificial, the real and the fictional, tend to blur.
