Sounds, signals and symbols in the acoustic environment inform us about place, context and identity, trigger associations and help us identify relationships between properties of the environment. Acoustic ecology encourages awareness of the sonic environment, from which images “can be captured, processed and represented as a reflection of reality and/or as an artistic creation” (Claude Schryer).
